As the late afternoon sun gilded the ruins, archaeologist Ashoka carefully unrolled an ancient map in the heart of the city. This brittle map, said to be created by a mystic sage, held the long-hidden location of a golden temple. Joining him, fellow archaeologist Priyadarshani questioned their likelihood of success. Ashoka remained undeterred, asserting that the discovery could reshape their entire understanding of ancient India. Following the map's delicate lines, they navigated to an ancient banyan tree, whose roots coiled like massive serpents. They began digging at a mound nestled within the roots. After much effort, Priyadarshani felt a solid object beneath the earth — a stone slab etched with ornate carvings. They had found the entrance. As the slab was moved, a rush of cold, stagnant air escaped the sealed chamber. Inside, the walls were covered in frozen stories of the past, with a shimmering golden idol at the center. Ashoka quickly realized the idol was protected by a ritual. He and Priyadarshani touched its base and recited the ancient incantation found in the frescoes. The chamber vibrated as the pedestal sank, revealing a vault filled with ancient relics, gold coins, jeweled artifacts, and untouched scrolls. Recognizing that this was not merely treasure but an entire civilization speaking to them, they collected the scrolls and artifacts to bring back to the world above. As dawn arrived, Ashoka felt this was only the start of their journey, with many more stories still waiting to be uncovered beneath the earth.
